Sally Pearson Shield 2023

Another inspiring day at the Sally Pearson Shield at QE2 today with the day getting off to a great start when Sam Luff took the Open Shot Put in a National qualifying throw of 14.90m and our depth in the event showing through with Adrian Keen, Phil Lock, Connor Duggan and John Purcell all involved as well as Lee Martin later on in the Under 18s.

Joel Drew broke the Marist Ashgrove Open 110m hurdles record with a sensational win in 14.32 and wasn’t far away from the 41 year old 400m record of 50.01 either with another great heat win in 50.57.

Daniel Drew was fastest Under 20 in the 110m hurdles with 14.77 and Tiana Solley 3rd fastest in the Open Women in 14.89.

Isaac Ting also had a good heat win in 14.63 in the U16 100m hurdles.

Once again our 100s and 400s were very strong with Tiana Solley, Laura Bray, Katie Bray, Zel Van Loggerenberg, Cam Pfeffer, Andrew Pfeffer, Aidan Dallinger, Daniel Drew, Cristian Kuenzel, Connor Campbell and Harry Cootes all performing well.

Cristian also did well in Long Jump with a 5.68m jump.

It was a really tough day with the humidity for the 1500m runners but Zel Van Loggerenberg 5.06 and Seb Croke 4.28 both showed promise of better things when we can get some more suitable conditions.

Daniel Drew fastest Under 20 in the 110m hurdles at Sally Pearson Shield in 14.77 seconds.
