A huge day of action at the State Cross Country Relays at Nudgee today with a record number of teams reflecting the growing overall interest in the sport.

Lots of Ashgrove Rangers kids backed up after running with their school teams in the morning.

Those teams saw a lot of success including the St Andrew’s Ferny Grove team with lots of our Under 10 Girls involved in jointly taking the prestigious Junior School Trophy with Brookfield State School along with gold and silver teams medals in the 8 and 9 years age groups.

Brisbane State High School also took the Secondary Boys teams trophy with team gold medals to Tate Van Camp, Sonny Adam and Seb Croke.

A silver medal went to our Over 50s Women’s 3 x 3k team of Katherine Jackman, Lynda Bateson and Janine Stanton while the Under 14 Girls 3 x 3k team of Laura Bray, Harriet Sutton and Zel Van Loggerenberg took bronze.

A highlight late in the day was a big sprint finish by John White to outlast Peter Jones of Toowong in the Men’s Masters 3 x 3k.

A big thanks to Queensland Athletics, the officials and all the clubs who took part for making it a very successful day of competition.
