It might have been very sticky with showers and 90 per cent humidity but the good performances just kept coming for us on Day 2 of the State Track and Field Championships.
Cristian Kuenzel sprung a major but also very well earned surprise taking the Under 18 Long Jump Gold Medal with a leap of 6.38 metres with Ben Caughley also doing well with 6.11m for 7th.
Tate Van Camp had a comfortable win in the Under 14 800m recording 2.05.63 for an 8 second victory.
Zel Van Loggerenberg scored a Bronze in the Under 14 800m and her running form looked the goods reflected in another PB of 2.20.07.
Andrew Pfefffer made the semis of the Open Men’s 100m running 11.52 on a wet track into a 1.4 m/s headwind.
In the 400m, Andrew backed up to record a very good PB of 53.13.
George Daly qualified with 51.81 in the Under 20 400m and Lachie Kennedy had a comfortable heat win in 52.53 in the Under 18s.
In the Open Women’s Javelin, Tiana Solley was 4th with a very impressive 40.36m in an event where she has really improved. Connor Duggan was 3rd with a handy 47.37m in the Under 20 Men’s Javelin.
We have had so many good performances it’s hard to know where to look next – will be great if it can continue over the weekend.
