QLD All Schools Track and Field Titles 2023

Day 1

What a great night for our athletes on Day One of the Queensland All Schools Titles at QE2.
A terrific effort by Connor Campbell saw him take the Gold Medal in the Under 15 Boys 200m Hurdles in a very slick 26.96 seconds.
The 800 metres was also a happy hunting ground for us with a 2:24.04 PB to Laura Bray seeing her through to the Under 14 final with Zel Van Loggerenberg (Under 14) and Kristina Kersten (Under 16) also through with 2:24 and Tate Van Camp cruising his Under 14 heat in 2:13.

Day Two

Tate Van Camp produced a very strong finish for a 3 second win in the Under 14 Boys 800m in 2:03.02 with Zel Van Loggerenberg getting Bronze in the Under 14 Girls in 2:19.24 in a race that was just as quick as the boys in the first 200m.
Laura Bray and Kristina Kersten each ran bravely for 8th place in 2:28.91 and 2:27.12 respectively in the Under 14 and Under 16 Girls races.
Officially Joel Drew recorded the same time as the winner Taj Gordon from Toowoomba Grammar in getting the Silver in the Under 18 110m Hurdles in 14.13 seconds but somehow the photo finish determined he had gone down 14.128 seconds to Taj’s 14.127 seconds.
It was still a great lead-up run to the Australian all Schools in Perth in December showing Joel continuing to make forward progress through the season.
Connor Campbell scored an excellent silver in the Under 15 100m Hurdles in 14.53 seconds and Charlie Campion was also in the medals in the Under 14s with Bronze in 14.05 ahead of fellow Marist Ashgrove competitor Hayden Lockhart in 4th in 14.33.
Isaac Ting recorded a quick 14.01 in 6th place in the Under 16 100m Hurdles.
In the Under 17 Shot Put Isaiah Burgess earned a very good Silver in 14.36m and Jai Jarro 4th in 12.44m.
Cristian Kuenzel was 4th in 3.40m in the Under 18 Pole Vault while In the Under 15 Triple Jump Ethan Dallinger was 11th in 10.97m with Cooper Lofts 13th in 10.61m and Cooper also 18th in Discus in 21.61m.

Day Three

A Gold Medal to Lee Martin in the Under 18 Shot Put with a throw of 15.16m, a Bronze to Aidan Dallinger in the Under 18 Triple Jump with 13.02m and another Bronze to Cristian Kuenzel with 1.85m in the Under 18 High Jump were great highlights again for us on an exciting Day Three of the Queensland All Schools Championships at QE2 today.
In the 100m it was very satisfying to see 7th placings in Finals in the Under 18, Under 16 and Under 14 100m respectively to Aidan Dallinger, Haiden Boyd and Marist Ashgrove’s Hayden Lockhart in 11.36, 11.37 and 12.45.
There were also some excellent heat efforts in the Under 15 100m from Lindsay Dixon 11.89, Ethan Dallinger 12.31 and Harry Cootes 12.86.
In the Under 15 Boys 400m Final we saw a top run by Connor Campbell 53.31 for 5th while Perry Croft produced a good PB of 58.33 for 7th place and Kristina Kersten recorded 65.08 in the Under 16 Girls 400m heats.
Tate Van Camp won both his 400m and 1500m Heats easily in great style and will face the task of a quick backup from the 1500m Final into the 400m Final tomorrow within 90 minutes tomorrow afternoon.
In the 1500m Under 14 Girls heats we were well-represented with Zel Van Loggerenberg the 4th-fastest qualifier for the Final in 4:56.49 and also good runs by Laura Bray 5:10.07 and Harriet Sutton 5:31.85.
The Under 16 Boys High Jump saw a good result from Lyndon Maynard with a 1.70m jump for fourth.

Day Four

What a day the fourth and final day of the Queensland Alll Schools Titles at QE2 was with some really excellent performances to round out the meet.
We saw an exhibition of great running form for a youngster down the home straight in a PB to Tate Van Camp in the Under 14 400m of 52.65 winning by 2.3 seconds after winning the 1500m Gold in 4:24.12 less than 90 minutes earlier.
The 400/800/1500m Treble is a very rare and difficult task but Tate has now pulled it off three times in three weeks at school States, GPS and All Schools.
Marist Ashgrove’s new find Sanya Elisala was actually his main challenger early in the 400m and ran a very slick huge pb of 55.52 to miss a medal by just 0.03.
Zel Van Loggerenberg also picked up a medal running nicely with bronze in the Under 14s 1500m in very humid conditions with 4:47.99 while Tully Schweitzer was 6th in the Under 17 1500m with 5:06.90.
There were plenty of other highlights as well through the day with a Silver to Katie Bray in the Under 16 3k Walk in 18:53.68 and a Bronze to Cooper Lofts in the Under 15 Javelin in 40.88 and 9th in Long Jump with 5.02m.
Late on Day Three Hayden Lockhart picked up a Gold in the Under 14 Triple Jump with an excellent 11.88m performance and backed up today with a Silver in the Long Jump with 5.41m with Sanya Elisala 4th in 4.96m.
Cristian Kuenzel was 5th in Under 18 Javelin with a best throw of 38.40m and was then fourth in Under 18 Long Jump with 6.24m just ahead of Ben Caughley with 6.17m.
In the 200m events, Daisy Clarke made her first final with a 7th placing in 27.54 after a 13.51 100m yesterday while Aidan Dallinger had his Under 18 Final just as an enormous cloudburst struck making his 23.17 for 6th place very meritorious.
In the Under 15 200m heats there were PBs to both Lindsay Dixon in 25.03 and Perry Croft 27.08.
A very close 4 x 100m all age event saw the Marist Ashgrove team finish with Silver just behind Nudgee College with Isaac Ting, Joel Drew and Connor Campbell teaming with Joe Jackson.

Well done to the Marist Ashgrove Under 18s with Joel Drew accepting the All Schools Under 18 Boys point score Trophy with Coach Robin Martin.
The Marist Senior Boys will try to claim the National Schools Challenge Trophy in Perth in December after taking the Intermediate Teams Trophy in Adelaide last year.
Marist were 3rd overall in the Boys Comp this weekend with Brisbane State High School taking the Mixed Trophy so very well done to our athletes involved in those teams.

It was certainly an epic All Schools meet for us and after an extremely successful State Secondary Schools meet our athletes backed up really well to take a total of 17 medals.
Our athletes were also involved in the Marist Ashgrove silver in the 4 x 100m where Joel Drew, Isaac Ting and Connor Campbell teamed with Joe Jackson.
Even better we had more athletes make finals and run PBs.
