Garry Brown Shield/1500m Classic 2024

After another day of shifty weather yesterday, UQ Athletic Club would be relieved that the Garry Brown Shield/1500m Classic Mile events finally went ahead because if postponed again we might have been celebrating the 71st birthday of the 4 Minute Mile.

Aidan Dallinger shaved another 0.01 seconds off his 100m PB getting down to 11.12 which augurs well given the track had been soaked earlier and it was very humid. Aidan also won the Open Men’s Triple Jump with 13.22m.

Other good 100m efforts came from Andrew Pfeffer 11.30 and Guy de Putron 12.56.

In the 400m good to see our Japanese visitor Kaito Hazana run well with 53.32 with Andrew Pfeffer 55.46 and Guy de Putron 58.96.

In the Men’s High Jump, Lyndon Maynard was 7th in 1.80m

Adrian Keen took the Men’s Masters Javelin with 36.87m while newcomer Remi Sakzewski recorded 31.84n for 2nd in Under 14 Javelin.

In the Mile events, newcomer Fred Little took the 12 years event in 5:19.44 with sister Josephine 4th in the 12 years Girls in 5:50.94 and Eva Hurley 11th in 6:19.62.

In the 13 to 19 years events, Zel Van Loggerenberg was 6th in 5:15.06 in Heat One while in Heat Two, Laura Vray was 4th with 5:31.84 and Kristina Kersten 9th with 5:40.63.

In the Open Men’s Race 3, Ciaran Barry was 4:57.21 and Max Roethig 5:17.94.

Thanks everyone for your representation for the club on a day when the weather had been so dicey.
