With some clashes with other events this week with the Cathy Freeman Shield at QE2 today we were never going to quite ascend the lofty heights of the podium like last week from an overall team perspective.
However despite yet another different set of tricky conditions with constant drizzle and humidity I was very happy with the effort levels that our athletes put in whether it translated to the results they were after or not.
One of the star performers of the day was Daisy Clarke who won both her 100m (PB 12.94) and 400m (first ever race 62.94) heats in splendid fashion.
Tiana Solley was also right on song with a 12.41 100m and 5.61m Long Jump.
Would need to refer to our very esteemed stats boffins but I suspect Tate Van Camp’s big 1500m Heat 2 win and PB of 4:01.63 is right up there with the quickest 14 year olds efforts of past Queenslanders while it was very pleasing to see a 4:12.93 1500m effort effort by Daniel Casey for a 10 second PB.
Isaac Ting showed he is coming to grips well with the longer distance as he knocked out a National Qualifier in the 400m Hurdles with 62.08.
Hayden Lockhart impressed with 11.49m as 2nd Under 16 in Triple Jump and similarly Lyndon Maynard with 1.82m for 3rd Under 18 in High Jump.
Adrian Keen continued his recent excellent form with 41.35m in Masters Discus.
Thanks everyone for another very intriguing meet and looking forward to the final Shield of the season the Sally Pearson Shield at QE2 in two weeks time with the State 3k Championships at UQ next Saturday.
