A tremendous opening Brisbane Cross Country Series Event with a real buzz about it put on by Toowong Harriers at an excellent new course with an ideal grass surface and undulations at Biambi Yumba Park at Fig Tree Pocket.

After some of the pre-race build-up with Toowong President Ross Anderson I was quite concerned to feel a few raindrops arriving at the course as to what I might be in for but fortunately we had clear weather throughout the event.

It was no great surprise to see some strong running by our young emerging distance girls in the 4k event with Laura Bray 3rd and Lara Wannenbugh and Kristina Kersten also in the top 10 while Kitty Stannard did well against runners two years older for fourth in the Under 10 Girls 1k and brother Elliott also up the pointy end of the Boys 2k.
