At the Benita Willis Shield/State 5k meet at QE2 we had a very strong overall team performance.
We had heaps of depth in the sprints through excellent representation where Aidan Dallinger recorded PBs in both 100m (11.13) and in his 200m Heat into a headwind 22.78.
Sam Shaw was second in the Under 14 100mm in 12.52.
Daisy Clarke was also in top form running 12.84 into a 1.5 m/s headwind while Haiden Boyd recorded a handy 23.06 and Andrew Pfeffer 23.26 in the 200m.
In Heat 2 of the Women’s 800m there was a quartet of up and coming Ashgrove Rangers prospects with Zel Van Loggerenberg 2:19.24, Laura Bray a PB of 2:22.52, Kristina Kersten 2:26.43 and Emilia Schulze 2:29.22.
Tate Van Camp tuned up very nicely for the Australian All Schools with a strong second lap for an 800m PB of 1:55.31 which is only 0.05 outside of the record set in 1987 for that meet.
Connor Campbell recorded 16.46 for 4th in the Under 18 110m Hurdles.
Adrian Keen was also right on target in the Masters Hanmer Throw with an excellent 44.44m – an amazing throw for an Over 50s competitor.
In the Men’s Open Long Jump Lyndon Maynard continued good recent form with 6.07m for 6th place.
In the State 5k heats Sonny Adam stormed home the last lap of Heat 4 in 17:57.56 while Ciaran Barry recorded 18:14.13 in Heat 5.
A big thanks to everyone who contributed on what was a really good day overall for us and a big thanks also to Paul Circosta, Robin Martin and Gary Morrisby for being on hand.
