More than anything the sport of athletics is about perseverance and it was great to see our seniors who really know what that means come right to the fore at today’s Joanna Stone Shield at QE2.
Tiana Solley now has family bragging rights in the 100m after winning the Women’s A Grade today in a PB of 12.19, a time 0.02 seconds quicker than the PB of husband Jerry.
Tiana was also 2nd in Shot Put with 11.71m, 4th in Javelin with 35.43m and 6th in Long Jump with 5.38m.
Connor Duggan did well with 1.93m for 4th in Open Mental Men’s High Jump and
Andrew Pfeffer nailed a 51.93 400m PB.
Liam Griff qualified for Nationals in both 100m (11.21) and 400m Hurdles (60.32) while Connor Campbell is adapting very well well to the 400m Hurdles with another big PB of 58.42.
Emilia Schulze posted an impressive 17 second PB in the 1500m of 4:52.52 while Isla (400m), Dylan (1500/400m) and Patrick Reid (1500/400m) were all impressive very close to their PBs.
Sam Shaw took the Under 14 100m in 12.57 while Hayden Lockhart posted an impressive 200m time of 27.24 and 12.03m in Triple Jump.
We had great depth in the 100m with good efforts also from Isaac Ting 11.24, Haiden Boyd 11.27, Andrew Pfeffer 11.39, Nate Griffin 12.92, Owen Griff 13.93 and Daisy Clarke 13.30.
Riley Hansel again posted 1.90m in the High Jump with Jack Mahuru 1.70m and Hugo Lockhart 1.45m.
Genesis S’Au was 9.96m in Shot with Cooper Lofts 45.88m for 3rd in Javelin.
Nate Griffin posted a 400m PB of 60.13 while Zel Van Loggerenberg also ran well with 60.82.
All in all we did quite well with today’s showing.
Our experiences in the arena also provided enough areas for improvement as well to keep us on our toes leading in to States and Nationals.
