Sally Pearson Shield 2025

We had a very strong day at QE2 even with many of our juniors away today taking a trail of places and records at Little As Regionals.

Conditions were mostly conducive to good performances but still a bit changeable at times.

The plane to Perth is starting to look crowded with National qualifiers going to Tiana Solley (100m 12.36, 100m Hurdles 14.92), Aidan Dallinger (1st in Open Triple Jump with 13.47m), Riley Hansel (1.90m High Jump), Hayden Lockhart (Triple Jump 12.34m and 14.10 100m Hurdles), Isaac Ting (110m Hurdles 15.23) and Connor Campbell (110m Hurdles 16.13).

There were also good PBs in the 800m to Daniel Casey 2:03.93 and amazingly Kristina Kersten 2:21.88 after competing in both the 1500m and 400m earlier in the day at Little Athletics Regionals at Strathpine.

Andrew Pfeffer ran a super quick 22.76 200m but with an illegal tailwind, Isaac Ting was on form with an 11.25 100m while Isla Reid 800m 2:27.78, Daisy Clarke 100m 13.39 and 200m 27.75, Hugo Lockhart 1.45m High Jump and 18.84 90m Hurdles, Hugh Sutton 16.27 90m Hurdles and 14.47 100m and Brendan Press 15:22.66 5k all looked quite promising.

There was a see-sawing Discus battle between John Purcell (20.02m 1.5kg) and Tom Burrows (QE2 – 19.84 2kg) who recorded a 2 metre PB.

Looks like the master stroke to get Tom over his 22m goal in future might be to bring the very competitive Phil Lock back into the equation to up the ante even further!
