An epic finish to the Open Men’s Decathlon today at the Glynis Nunn Shield at QE2 saw Connor Duggan pull out all stops in the final event the 1500m to hang on to the Silver Medal as 2nd Queenslander and 4th overall with 6055 points.
The weather was again tricky with a wet track but there were good performances with Kristina Kersten and Laura Bray 1st and 2nd in Heat 2 of the Women’s 800m with 2:23.78 and 2:25.79.
In the 60m there were slick runs from Andrew Pfeffer 7.48 and Sam Shaw winning Under 14s 8.05.
Andrew also ran strongly in the 200m in 23.28 as did Nate Griffin 26.77 while Isaac Ting was 3rd in 16.17 in Under 20 100m Hurdles and Sonny Adam 14th in 9:27.52 in the Open 3000m.
Well done everyone on a great weekend of competition and particularly to the Queensland Athletics officials who made it all possible through all that the conditions served up.
