A very meritorious 5th place out of 40 clubs for us as the QE2 Kookaburra as is traditional was on hand to declare the Track and Field Shield season closed at today’s Sally Pearson Shield.
Certainly comments I was getting today from the wider athletic community show the general contribution from our members who have competed has never had our club as highly respected at QE2 as what it is now.
Times largely went out the window with some very hefty headwinds at play.
Top performers included Lachie Kennedy fastest Under 20 400m with 51.77, Tiana Solley 3rd in Women’s Open Javelin/Shot/100m Hurdles and 5th in 200m, Sam Shaw who was fastest 12 year old in 100/200/400m, Lee Martin who took the Open Shot with 12.27m and 2nd in U20 Javelin with 45.68m, Cooper Lofts 2nd U16 Javelin 44.15m and 3rd Shot 10.99m, Shea Caminiti 2nd U14 90m Hurdles 16.49, Lynda Bateson 1st with PB of 7.05m in Masters Shot and Zel Van Loggerenberg 3rd 4:55.77 in Women’s A Grade 1500m.
Isaiah Burgess was also strong with 2nd in Under 18 Shot with 14.41m and Jono Kirk 4th with 11.91m. Emilia Schulze scored a track PB with 68.89 for 4th in Under 14 400m.
There were a number of other very promising efforts from a State Titles viewpoint so looking forward to a great meet from this Thursday through to Sunday.
Finally I would like to thank Queensland Athletics for a very efficiently conducted season and the other clubs who have continually pushed us to better things along with our very supportive parents, coaches, officials, committee, helpers and off-track brains trust network that keeps helping us get better each year.
